About The Band Director
Eric D. Ratica is currently serving in his 22nd year as Director of Bands in the Norwayne Local School District. His current responsibilities include direction of all the bands in the district as well as music theory, music history, and High School Computer Applications. His undergraduate work was completed at Youngstown State University and he earned a MME Degree at VanderCook College of Music. Mr. Ratica is also active in The Ohio Music Education Association. In addition to his duties as a percussion adjudicator for Solo/Ensemble as well as Marching Band, he is a member of the OMEA State Officer Board, serving as Treasurer of his local OMEA District for the past 14 years.
The High School band recently started rehearsals for the second part of the year; Concert Band. This means that the band will be rehearsing every morning and a few times after school. They will be practicing three new selections for an upcoming concert. These pieces will be announced within the coming weeks. Each member of the band has also been given the choice of writing and essay about the instrument that they play or to take an ensemble piece to small group. Those who chose to take an ensemble were grouped together with a few others and were given their music to learn and perfect for the judge in January
